Mold processing technology flow

The mold processing technology process is a systematic process from requirement analysis to production maintenance, with core steps including design, 

material preparation, multi process processing, assembly debugging, and trial mold optimization. It requires quality control at multiple stages to ensure accuracy and stability.


Mold processing is a core link in the manufacturing industry, with complex processes and high precision requirements, requiring a combination of design, materials, 

processing technology, and quality inspection. Taking plastic molds as an example, the typical process involves 8-10 key steps, each of which must strictly follow the 

standards to ensure the quality of the final product


Design and Preparation Stage

Requirement analysis and design: Determine the mold structure based on product requirements, use CAD software to model and simulate analysis, involving key designs 

such as parting surfaces and pouring systems.

Material selection and procurement: Commonly used mold materials are steel and aluminum alloy, and hardness, metallographic structure, and other indicators need to 

be tested to ensure compliance with processing requirements


Processing and handling stage

CNC machining: turning, milling, drilling, etc., to process materials into preliminary shapes and achieve basic contour machining of molds

Precision machining: EDM, wire cutting, processing complex cavities and fine structures, such as pinhole and insert gap control, to ensure high-precision dimensions of the mold

Surface treatment: electroplating, polishing, etc., to improve wear resistance and corrosion resistance, and extend the service life of the mold


Assembly and commissioning phase

Assembly and debugging: After assembling the parts, test the functions of opening and closing molds, cooling systems, etc., to ensure stability

Trial molding and mold repair: inspecting product quality through trial production, correcting dimensional deviations or structural defects

Key points of production and maintenance

Formal production: After passing the trial mold, mass production is carried out, and the molding parameters (temperature, pressure, etc.) need to be monitored

Maintenance: Regularly clean and lubricate molds, replace vulnerable parts (such as ejector pins and guide posts), and prevent malfunctions
